Visit the Imvu website or download the desktop/mobile up to become a member. Start by choosing your gender, creating your avatar, customizing its looks and outfit, and lastly, providing your basic information. 

Become a guest member after providing your email address or directly logging in using your Facebook account. Set up your password and input your birthdate on the same form. Only captcha verification is needed to complete your registration.

The steps are very easy-to-follow and entertaining. It is not your typical "enter your details" kind of registration. Styling your avatar is fun and creative. Just like when you are preparing for an actual date, you have to dress up and be in your best look.

It's up to you if you want to be vain about the looks of your avatar. However, you may change its looks later anyway. You can spend less time signing up and being a member after just a minute or two.

Upon registration, you will automatically receive 4000 credits which you can use to buy virtual items for your avatars like clothes, home furniture, and more.

Imvu allows standard members to chat with their matches for free, as well as enter live chat rooms anytime. Members can share photos and use 'Modicons' to make conversations more fun. Members get match profiles based on their interests and location.

Members can also communicate using avatar actions and send friend requests to profiles that they are interested in. Since Imvu is a 3D virtual game, members can simulate real-life by purchasing houses, cars, clothes, and food. They can even get married to other avatars and start a family!

Some live rooms require premium membership and other rooms don't allow minor members inside.

The profile section is just simple, which makes it more interesting. It only shows the features of your avatar, which you can change and style the way that you like. 

Information that will show on your profile is your age, gender, location, a link to your posts, followers following, and friends' list. When you are in a particular room, you will see the details of that place in the current room section of your profile. You will also have the option to share or keep some information blank about your bio, interests, and affinity. 

You can create creative usernames or let the app generate one for you. You can post photos and texts on your feed. For the pictures, you may customize the poses of the avatar before capturing. You may also change the clothes and accessories that you are virtually wearing.
