This app intrigued me. However, when I tried it, it did not live up to its concept. While I like the concept of video chatting and meeting new people, it felt weird that there’s no way to chat with them other than through video. Some people are better using text instead of video and vice versa. It’s just weird that there’s only video chat available and you have to purchase diamonds, messages, and premium memberships to really contact other people. A bummer, really

Our field test
★★★★★ 2.0/5
Design & usability
The design of the app is geared towards the young. It comes to no surprise that the majority of the app’s members are ebtween the ages 18-24. Using colorful palette, Heyy is clearly targeted towards younger demographics.
However, upon our investigation, we found the app’s user interface and user experience to be complicated and hard to navigate at times. It isn’t simple. There seems to be another special feature hidden a few clicks away. You must find these bits yourself instead of having it all laid down in front of you.
Special features
Heyy offers special features to make the online dating experience more enjoyable. Here are some of them:
Finding people 1
Search FilterFree
You can customize the search preference by age, gender and country. On Heyy, you can meet new friends within your country or all around the world.
Showing interest 1
GemsPaid
You can use gems to send new snapchat request to make new friend. If you keep earning gems, unlimited friends is truly what you’ll find on Heyy.
Messaging and contact 2
Ice BreakerFree
Ice breaking message can be anything that describes the featured photo or bio of that person.
AR MasksFree
Heyy lets its members use augmented reality masks (AR masks) while doing video chats. This further enhances the socialization aspect of the app because it removes any awkwardness during live conversations.
